木兰当户织。

不闻机杼声，

唯闻女叹息。

这是中国南北朝时期北方的一首长篇叙事民歌《木兰诗》中的语句。它讲述了花木兰女扮男装，替父从军，征战沙场，凯旋回朝，建功受封，辞官还家的故事，充满传奇色彩。

《木兰诗》一直被大家所演绎，形式多种多样。经过了两个多月的排练，今天PYP六年级的同学们将通过歌舞剧的形式为大家展示花木兰传奇的经历。

Today’s performance is a musical, through song, dance and drama .After more than two months of rehearsal ,PYP year 6 students are ready to tell you the story of Mulan’s incredible adventure.

序幕

Prologue

古代有一女子叫花木兰，个性爽朗，性情善良，从小喜欢射箭骑马，练得一身好武艺，一直期待着自己能为花家带来荣耀。
Our drama opens with the ancestors introducing us to the Fa family and the beliefs and values of Imperial China, and they sing ‘Written in Stone’. Mulan hurries across the stage bumping into the fathers and mothers and the ancestors awaken Mushu.

第一幕Scene 1

有一年，边关告急，朝廷征兵。年迈的父亲也被征召上战场，伤心的花木兰担忧父亲会一去不返。

The ancestors sing about the qualities of a good bride. Mulan’s father and the female cast sing “Honor to us all” hoping to turn Mulan into a beautiful bride. The matchmaker is not impressed by Mulan. Mulan and the ancestors and sing “Reflection”. Chi Fu brings news of the Hun army invading China and Mulan worries about her father going to war.


第二幕

Scene 2

花木兰趁着午夜假扮成男装，偷走父亲的盔甲，代替父亲上战场去。

The ancestors talk about how Mulan has run off to join the army in disguise. They worry she will bring dishonour to her family by breaking tradition if she is discovered and send Mushu to guide Mulan.




第三幕 Scene 3

匈奴首领单于已准备进入中原，他们抓住了前来探听情报的两个士兵。

Mushu, in hiding, sees Shan-Yu and the Hun soldiers Subar-Tu and Magyar as they drag two frightened Chinese soldiers onto the stage.


第四幕

Scene 4

女扮男装的花木兰靠着自己的毅力与耐性，通过了许多辛苦的训练与严峻的考验，成为了军中不可或缺的大将。At Camp, Mulan is practising her manly disguise and meets Mushu, Mulan meets Captain Shang, and joins the army. Captain Shang promises his troops he will “Make a Man Out of You”.


第五幕 Scene 5

匈奴计划进攻附近的村庄，这里危在旦夕。

In the Chinese countryside the Hun army plans to attack a village in the Tung-Shao Pass.


第六幕

Scene 6

当匈奴侵略村庄的消息传到军营时，宰相赐福并不信任这些士兵能和匈奴对抗，但将领李翔却对他们的能力充分肯定。The next morning at Wu Zhong Camp the soldiers hear about the Hun attack. Chi Fu doesn’t think the soldiers are ready to fight but Captain Shang says they have to be.


第七幕 Scene 7

花木兰使用妙计让匈奴全军覆没，可这暴露了她的女儿身。

At the Tung-Shao Pass the Chinese soldiers are upset to find the village has been destroyed and everyone is dead. They see thousands of Hun soldiers, the soldiers hide but Mulan has a clever idea and they defeat the Huns. The Chinese soldiers find out Mulan is a girl!


第八、九幕

Scene 8/9

皇帝嘉奖了花木兰，赦免了她的欺君之罪，并同意她返乡照顾自己的父母。The Emperor gives a speech and rewards Mulan, even if she is a girl. The cast sing “A girl worth fighting for”.


在长达快一个小时的精彩演出后，校长Stella,PYP协调员Eric和Karen老师对同学们的表演给予了肯定，也对他们寄予了期望。

After one hour’s wonderful performance.Principal Stella and PYP coordinator Eric and Karen gave them positive feedback and best wishes for their future in MYP and beyond.



剧中的花木兰天性善良勇敢，沉着机智，坚忍不拔，对父母有无限爱心，对国家有无限忠诚，这些优良的品质都是即将毕业的PYP学生所要努力和追求的方向，这也和孩子们六年来在PYP学习到的十大培养目标相契合。虽然他们即将小学毕业，但相信这些精神也会引领着大家在今后人生的道路上继续前行。

Mulan in this play is kind and brave by nature, calm and witty, persevering, has infinite love for her parents, and unending loyalty to her country. These excellent qualities are the direction that our graduating PYP students must work hard and pursue. The ten learner profiles we have learned in PYP over the past six years are in line with the qualities observed in our drama. Although the students will soon graduate,they will carry the spirit of Mulan’s perseverance and our PYP values with them.
